I have a brand new pair of these X-bars spare. They didn’t quite do the trick for me. My arms must be shorter than most people’s!

Many, many thanks Ian for taking the time to share that object of beauty. I will try and create something similar.

The ‘captive’ nut, bit of a misnomer if ever there was one, seems to have a wobbly life of it’s own and won’t stay still. Maybe that needs locktight as well. I’m also getting a tap and die set while I’m at it as I think the nut’s thread has become somewhat unwelcoming to all my advances.

I always take a pack of cable ties. I have bodged so many problems with a pack of these. Indispensable.

I got absolutely soaked a while ago as did the seat. It was not happy! Smelt like old horse tackle and was very, very soggy. Took it off and dried it out indoors. Scotchguarded it for what’s worth. I’m now looking to out for an elasticated pvc cover to keep in my back pack.

    Hi Yozzer,
Glad to hear you’ve got your Maverick. There’s a petrol tank removal pdf somewhere on the forum.
I also found the ride pretty firm to say the least. I am a lightweight mechanically but I kept winding the rear shock out several turns till it got softer. Took quite a few I can tell you. Played with the rebound a bit as well. Left to front forks as they looked a bit intimidating. Just make a note of what you’ve done so you can always undo your ‘adjustments’ ha! ha!
Took quite a few turns I can tell you.
At the first service CCM – lovely Ryan for me – will fiddle it a bit to suit you even better.
My main issue that I’m trying to sort is the handlebars being so far away/low. My knuckles don’t drag along the ground! Approved riser kit and alternative bars being developed by CCM for the New Year-ish. Happy riding.
    Regards Tim

    Hi Martin,
I’m also finding the Maverick handlebars too far away! Not comfortable on a long ride. I’ve fitted bar risers and moved the bars forward but it’s just not enough.
Some other forum member suggested using the Flat Tracker FT6 handle bars. CCM spares say they should be in stock in the New Year 2023.

CCM Spares also commented on the use of bar risers: “We must inform you that the use of bar risers isn’t approved with the standard use throttle cable. Design/Engineering identified a possible serious problem with the throttle cable snagging under tension with a higher than standard bar setup which can lead to the throttle opening at full lock – not desirable at all! Please bear in mind to that unapproved modifications invalidate the bike warranty.”

They did say CCM were bringing out their own handlebar conversion kits “soon”.

I hope that’s normal ‘soon’ rather than CCM ‘soon’!

Was moving the bar clamp post position enough for you?

    Regards Tim

Thanks very much Martin, I will NOT spray WD40 on the electrics 👍

You’re suggesting it’s best to have the bag off at all times for unrestricted air intake? Is the bag just for aethestics then? I thought it had a practical purpose to stop muck getting in? Maybe not!

Trying to move the handlebars forward onto the front position.
Handlebars came off OK but, boy oh boy, the bolts on the yoke are on frigging tight! My allen key’s going to snap for sure. Goodness knows what the torque setting was when they went in.
Off to Screwfix for an allen key socket set and another attempt with more leverage.

Children and grandchildren banned by my wife.

Hopefully I’ll sort the clutch out.

Handlebar risers? Couldn’t agree more! Could you let me know how you get on and what one’s you’ve ordered. I didn’t want to sound like a moaning minnie but I’m not used to leaning slightly forward on a bike. Much more a ‘sit up and beg’ type of chap.
