Finally gotten around to changing the rear spring to 75nm. Also shortened the fork spacer by 10mm. As the preload adjuster has about 10mm of travel this means my original minimum preload is now my maximum. Using 7.5 weight fork oil with 140mm air gap as recommended by CCM. Feels much better but the real test will be to put some more miles on it when the weather improves
Doooh, can’t believe i didn’t spot it before. The bolt i’m looking at is just a pin and the halves just pull apart. Think i was fooled by the excesses of christmas and not pulling hard enough initially. Thanks Martin for your advise
Hi, Mine seems to be the early with side mounting bracket and cap head bolts, not like the one in your photo. i’ll try and add a picture later. The only way i can see is to split the caliper in situ. The bolt that appears to hold the two halves together has its head covered by a rubber shroud which doesnt look to come off. I feel i must be missing something as it shouldn’t be this difficult ???
Hi, interesting to read about the change in spring rate. the spring on my scrambler is YSS-56-95-185, the 95 being rate in N/M. So presummably they are now using 75 ? Would this be the reason the bobber i tried on there recent test day felt more supple ?
A quick google search couldn’t find one in this country but assume i could get one from CCM direct, and them shorten the front fork spacer to balance them up
Hi, just noticed mine were loose last week. One of the large ones had elongated the hole but just caught it in time. Needs some extra fibre washers as with the bolt tight was still getting vibration and movement
Think you mean larger front sprocket, or smaller rear sprocket.
I have changed the rear on my Scrambler from 43 down to 40 which has made a nice improvement. I think 40 is the smallest you can go on the scrambler and i assume the Blackout will be the same
Hi, i went for a Renthal fatbar 609 bend. Not sure if this is the same as the flat tracker ( im sure one of the flat tracker owners could verify ) but i found it works very well on the scrambler. A quick google search will provide numerous suppliers. I have had no problem with throttle cable but it could do with being slightly longer so will be changing in the near future
Hi,i looked at the same with my Scrambler but eventually went with slightly higher bars as it looked neater. Went for renthal 609 bend which i think is the same as the flat tracker. Also check which position the clamps are on the top yoke. There is a forward and rear fixing, the rear brings the bars an inch or so closer to you
Hi, I have the Scrambler and have to say i’m extremly pleased with it. Possibly my favorite bike and i’ve owned a lot of bikes.
Comfort wise its good. Depends what your looking to do but i’m just doing a couple of hours here and there. Long distance may show up something else.
Suspension is very firm, i’ve backed mine right off and its much better, but still firm. Fine for A & B roads, not sure off road ?
Only other comfort changes i made was to loose the leather grips. They look great but lose a little friction which meant sore hands after a while, put on slightly higher bars and moved them to the rear position on the yoke.
Hi ,recently posted in another section how i went for the abba superbike stand. Very pleased with it. Easy to use on your own, very stable and allows either wheel off the ground if you buy the extra bar. Best price i found was from Abba direct
