    Hi All,
I have ordered a Spitfire 6 this week with an expected completion of early spring. I have a slight problem in that I am down in Kent, nigh on the opposite side diagonally to Bolton, a good 254 miles away. Having not ridden for a couple of years I would not want to attempt such a distance on picking up. For the factory to deliver, it would cost, from my estimations, close to £400. Again, not something I want to approach.
I have looked at a couple of companies who can do pick ups in vans and they have come to between £150 – £200. However, my mate has put the fear of god into me about any possible damage in transit, and who would blame who etc.
I am sure that many others must have had similar issue with deliveries over distance. What options did you take in the end ? Would be interested to know before making any decisions for transportation.

Hi, I purchased a used Six in November from a guy in Kent, I’m in North East England so it was a similar 270 mile trip. I considered using a specialist to collect & deliver but in the end I decided to hire a van & go & collect it. It cost me about £90 for a Citroen Dispatch which was more than large enough using ratchet straps to secure it in the back.

Van hire sounds like a good option. Do the ratchet straps generally come with the ire or did you supply them yourself ?

Hi, I already had the ratchet straps but they’re not expensive. I used 3 to make sure it was secure. Just make sure the van has D rings in the floor to attach them too ( most do but sometimes the have plywood flooring)

Just cancelled my £18000 spitfire! Delivery was due for March and found out yesterday that they have not been Vennep started the build.

    Hi Raw72,
Sorry to hear that. That’s the second cancellation (other a bobber) that I have heard of in the last 2 weeks.
Can I ask you when you ordered it and did you give half payment ? What build date did they give you ?
I ordered mine after the MCN show when they said there was a last run of 50 from the 300 to go and it would likely be end of march to april that they would start. Makes me wonder if they only start or consider starting when they have a solid 50 batch order or similar ? If I am guessing right, then the next build will be pushed out as well with people cancelling ?

I did have my Spitfire delivered by CCM and that delivery was flawless, though as you say it’s not cheap. I wanted to ride mine back from Bolton to Swindon but by the time the bike was finally ready, too much risk of getting it dirty on first ride!! Have since ridden it up to the Peaks and back in a day and actually it wasn’t too uncomfortable!!
