Heritage ‘71

1971 – IT ALL BEGAN WITH A PASSION TO WIN

A young motorcycle racer, Alan Clews, would ride to work on his motorcycle dreaming of competing in scrambling and trials at the weekend. Alan was a talented rider but needed a better bike so set about building his own. It was so good that his club-mates wanted one too. Bike racers became bike builders, and Clews Competition Machines were born.

Alan sadly passed away in 2018 however his legacy of building great British motorcycles continues in the same Lancashire town of Bolton.

Any motorcycle that bears our founding father’s signature has to be very special. Using the same gorgeous trellis frame that underpins the striking Spitfire range, this very limited edition machine has been designed using a range of components exclusive to this stunning machine. This machine is unmistakably CCM. It lifts any pre-conceived impressions to a new level. Our most striking bike to date, every component has been carefully considered to create a motorcycle that Alan would have been truly proud of. The unique “Heritage 71” paint finish uses subtle tones to create a stylish rendition of the Union flag and the same colour palette is carried from the carbon headlight cowl to the machined tailpiece.

LIMITED TO JUST 71 INDIVIDUALLY HAND BUILT MOTORCYCLES

The signature frame contrasts beautifully in anodic champagne, drawing the eye to the stunning twin exhausts, created from 64 separate stainless steel segments leading to a pair of stylish titanium silencers.

Your attention is instantly drawn to the bespoke 7-spoke Dymag race wheels, specially commissioned and optimized to shave 6kg off the unsprung weight. Complementing the sporting pedigree of the wheels, the fully adjustable suspension comes courtesy of Ohlins Blackline, with powerful twin-disc Brembo braking to match the chassis’ capability.

The riding position is pure CCM, relaxed but ready for fun, with a beautifully hand-sculpted single saddle, trimmed with the finest semi-aniline hide in Beluga with contrasting gold perforations. The luxurious perch sits atop a machined block of aircraft-grade aluminium, bearing the signature of the original master bike builder himself, the late Alan Clews. A unique enamel heritage badge completes the tailpiece.

CCM has brought together some of our finest suppliers to create a motorcycle worthy of our golden jubilee and the memory of our founding father.
