Buildbase CCM Racing Duo Stephen Sword And Tom Church Back On Track

Having suffered the best part of the 2010 season with setbacks, Buildbase CCM Racing’s elite MX racers Stephen Sword and Tom Church can now see the way to getting back to full fitness before the next round of the British Maxxis MX1 Championship at Foxhills.
Tom Church recovering from an operation on his hand has been riding his factory Buildbase CCM this week and has had no reaction to the injury. This will now allow Tom to push on hard over the next few weeks and get himself back to full fitness. Buildbase CCM Racing’s Sporting Director David Thorpe said “ it has been a very difficult year for Tom, the injury on his hand has meant that he has not been able to perform at his best since the beginning of the season and he has had a 6 week layoff from riding. We are confident that we can get him back to full fitness soon so he can turn in the results we all know he is capable of.”

Tom commented “ my task is clear now, I need to practice hard and be ready for Foxhills on the 25th July, my season will begin again there and
I am focused on the challenge ahead.”

Meanwhile team mate Stephen Sword is making strides with shaking off the viral infection that has been sapping his energy all season. Dave Thorpe commented “ we have been working closely with Steve, building up his fitness step by step and both Stephen and I are happy with the progress so far.”
Stephen cemented his progress with 3 fine second places at Wednesday nights’ Patchquick Trophy . The racing was exciting and close with Brad Anderson taking the 3 wins. Stephen said” I feel I am coming through my fitness problems and every day I feel stronger on the bike. The Patchquick was a good indicator. I can feel the fight coming back in my racing. Foxhills is one of my favourite tracks and I have 3 weeks to prepare so I am looking forward to it.

Buildbase CCM’s Austin Clews commented “ It has been a frustrating year for the Buildbase CCM team with both riders not being able to perform at their full potential. Despite these setbacks, both Stephen and Tom have shown their professionalism and DT has carefully guided the pair of them back to fitness. It is very encouraging that despite Stephen’s setback he is still 2nd in the Championship. Buildbase CCM has set a clear target of a win in the MX1 class in 2010 and this is still very much on the cards, the season is only half way and there is still 300 points on the table so anything can happen. Both riders have had the full support of Buildbase CCM and the teams sponsors throughout these setbacks and we are looking forward to the team getting back to full strength and giving our sponsors a result they can be proud of. Stephens’ results at the Patchquick Trophy MX this week confirms we are on the right track to achieve that.”
